Arts Award

takes a look at just some of the ways in which the art of jewellery has united and divided cultures across the world.

In partnership with Tidemill Academy
http://tidemill.net

27th April - 20th May 2017
Deptford Lounge

9 Giffin St, London SE8 4RJ

We started looking at the links between Holywood glamour and the jewellery trade of London's Hatton Garden and Bond Street, but the more we delved the more we realised that the art of jewellery design was a much bigger subject. One that has linked cultures across the world for thousands of years and is an art form that surrounds us all on a daily basis.

Diamonds of Deptford
We ran FREE schools workshops throughout the duration of the exhibition. Students from local Primary Schools and Nurseries took part in fun workshops to make their own pieces of fantasy junk jewellery.

Show & Sell - Saturdays (during the exhibition) with our Jeweller in residence, Margaret Lui  www.momojewellery.etsy.com
An opportunity for visitors to the exhibition to find out more about the art of jewellery design, to make their own piece of wirework jewellery and to purchase some of Margaret's own creations.

Augmented Reality Content
We worked with 60 Year 3 students at Tidemill Academy to create 10 short films - 2 are shown below - to accompany the exhibition. These were both screened on the exhibition monitors and available to view on phones and tablets via the LAYAR augmented reality app. http://get.layar.com
Additional textual content was made available via QR Codes.
(All of the AR and QR content is available via the 'Getting More form the Exhibition' section of the exhibition guide.)
